The Socialist Party (India) [SP(I)] welcomes the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) mobilisation of the youth regarding the urgent need for entrance and recruitment examination reform in India. The SP(I) stands in solidarity with the CJP’s demands for strict accountability and action against those responsible for paper leaks, erroneous evaluations, and the widespread mismanagement of recent examinations, including NEET, CBSE boards, and CUET. Furthermore, we support the call for the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
Although the protests were catalyzed by the insensitive and unacceptable remarks of Justice Surya Kant, this movement is a profound expression of the long-standing discontent and despair among India’s youth. Their hopes and aspirations have been repeatedly shattered by a fractured education system, escalating unemployment, and the surging cost of living. Moreover, the youth are growing increasingly disillusioned with the politics of Hindutva, recognizing that it thrives on stoking division and hatred while the genuine, pressing issues of the nation remain largely unacknowledged and unaddressed.
In recent years, the voices of countless dissidents have been systematically suppressed by the government and its affiliates through social media censorship, harassment, physical assaults, imprisonment on fabricated charges, and deportations. Against this backdrop, the courage exhibited by the CJP protestors is truly remarkable. We commend the fearless leadership of Abhijeet Dipke, who swiftly traveled from the USA to India to assume responsibility for the movement he initiated via a simple social media post. Furthermore, the protestors’ unwavering commitment to non-violent methods and their dedication to upholding the constitutional ideals and the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar are highly praiseworthy.
The SP(I) remains hopeful that the momentum generated thus far will be consolidated into a robust, full-fledged political movement that genuinely represents the interests of all young people in India, particularly the most marginalized. To successfully defeat the current government, the BJP, and counter the Hindutva ideology, a formidable opposing political force is essential. This necessitates that the CJP not only formulates a clearer and more comprehensive political stance while expanding its numerical and organizational strength, but also strategically aligns with other like-minded democratic groups and movements. The objective must be to forge a common ground for an extensive, unified struggle against the BJP, with a clear focus on the 2029 general elections.
